Familiar Funhouse is Hiring (yes, really!)

This feels pretty wild. I’m hiring for a mostly remote, part-time Creative Studio Assistant!

When I decided to do this full-time, I genuinely never imagined I’d be in a place to hire someone. Like, ever, probably? I was mostly trying to build a career that let me work remotely, accommodate my health, do creative work I actually cared about, and hopefully make enough money to keep doing it.

Somehow, a year and a half later, Pitch Ritual has grown into something much bigger and much more sustainable than I expected. The support I’ve received from clients, friends, other small businesses, venues, artists, and people who have trusted me with their work has continually surprised me, and I’m extremely grateful for it.

I also know it didn’t happen by accident. I’ve worked really hard to get here, and a huge part of that has been learning how to be a creative Swiss Army knife: figuring things out, picking up new skills when I need them, bouncing between strategy, design, copy, video, events, and about 100 other things depending on the day.

I didn’t go into freelancing with some grand plan to build an agency or chase endless growth. I wanted to make good work, work with people and businesses I actually give a shit about, stay connected to the community I’ve spent most of my career in, and build a working life that was actually sustainable for me.

Turns out that worked a little too well, because I officially have more work than I can reasonably do by myself. Rude.

It’s also not particularly easy to take something you’ve built from the ground up, poured this much of yourself into, and invite someone else behind the curtain. I don’t take that lightly, which is why I’m looking for someone who’s driven, resourceful, thoughtful, good with the tiny details, and has that same “I might not know how to do this yet, but I can figure it out” mentality. You absolutely do not need to know everything on day one. I care a lot more about curiosity, judgment, follow-through, and actually giving a shit about the work.

I’m not trying to build a giant agency. I just need another set of capable, creative hands behind the scenes, and I’m genuinely very excited to be at a point where I can bring someone else into what I’ve built.
